WHY ORAL MINOXIDIL
Can support thicker, fuller hair
Helps grow new hair
In a study of 30 men with male pattern hair loss, taking a 5 mg minoxidil pill once a day for 6 months led to an average gain of about 35 new hairs per square centimeter on the thinning area at the top of the head — an increase of roughly 19%.

Can increase hair density
Hair density rose from about 182 to 218 hairs per square centimeter.

Demonstrates visible improvements

HOW ORAL MINOXIDIL WORKS
Activates follicles.
Extends growth. Oral minoxidil is prescribed off-label for hair loss and regrowth. The exact mechanism is still being studied, but the clinical results are well-established.

Activates follicles
Oral minoxidil activates growth-signal pathways that shift resting follicles back into growth mode.
Fuller, thicker hair
Minoxidil extends the active growth phase, so individual hairs grow for longer before naturally shedding. It may further support follicle health by promoting blood flow to the surrounding tissue. The result is typically hair that is thicker, grows longer, and stays on your head for more time. These improvements build gradually over months of consistent use.
Stops miniaturization
Over time, minoxidil can reverse the miniaturization process that makes hair progressively finer. It can enlarge weakened follicles, restoring their ability to produce thicker strands.

What is oral minoxidil?
Oral minoxidil is an FDA-approved blood pressure medication that, at low doses, has become one of the most effective off-label treatments for hair loss. Doctors prescribe it for androgenetic alopecia and other types of thinning.
How do you take oral minoxidil?
Oral minoxidil for hair loss is a once-daily tablet. Always follow the dosage instructions from your doctor.
What are the side effects of oral minoxidil?
The most common side effect is increased hair growth in other areas of the body. Some also notice mild fluid retention or occasional heart palpitations. These tend to be mild and often resolve on their own. Tell your doctor if anything feels persistent or uncomfortable. Note: increased shedding when starting minoxidil is expected, not a side effect. It signals the medication is working and subsides over time.
Who shouldn't take oral minoxidil?
Oral minoxidil is not recommended for people with pheochromocytoma or a known hypersensitivity to minoxidil. Extra caution applies to patients with cardiovascular disease, kidney impairment, or those already taking blood pressure medications. Your doctor will review your cardiovascular history and full medication list before prescribing.
