WHY JARDIANCE®
Your kidneys reabsorb glucose. Jardiance® reduces that reabsorption.
Can reduce sugar reabsorption
In a study of 30 people — half with type 2 diabetes and half without — Jardiance® reduced the kidneys' maximum sugar-recycling capacity by 44–53% within just 2 days, and by 65–75% after 14 days.

Promotes daily sugar excretion
Patients taking Jardiance® excrete approximately 64 grams of sugar per day with the 10 mg dose and 78 grams per day with the 25 mg dose — that's roughly equivalent to 16–20 teaspoons of sugar being removed from the body every day.

May help protect heart and kidneys
In the landmark EMPA-REG OUTCOME trial, empagliflozin reduced cardiovascular death by 38% and slowed kidney disease progression by 39% in patients with type 2 diabetes and heart disease.

HOW JARDIANCE® WORKS
Lowers glucose.
Supports metabolic health. Jardiance® inhibits SGLT2 in the kidneys, the transporter that pulls glucose and sodium back into your blood. This helps support cardiovascular health, kidney function, and metabolic health.

Inhibits SGLT2
Jardiance® binds to and inhibits SGLT2, the primary transporter in the kidneys responsible for reabsorbing filtered glucose back into the bloodstream.
Reduces cardiometabolic load
In clinical trials, daily dosing produced reductions in cardiovascular death, heart failure hospitalization, and progression of chronic kidney disease.
Helps excrete glucose and sodium
With SGLT2 inhibited, excess glucose leaves the body through urine. Reduced sodium reabsorption lowers blood volume and intraglomerular pressure without raising heart rate.

What is Jardiance®?
Jardiance® (empagliflozin) is an FDA-approved treatment for type 2 diabetes, heart failure, and chronic kidney disease. Off-label, it's sometimes prescribed by doctors within a longevity medicine framework.
How do you take Jardiance®?
Jardiance® is a daily oral tablet, taken once daily in the morning, with or without food. Always follow dosage instructions from your doctor.
What are the side effects of Jardiance®?
The most frequently reported side effects are urinary tract infections and genital yeast infections, which can occur in both men and women because Jardiance® increases glucose in the urine. Increased urination, mild dehydration, and lower blood pressure are also common. These are typically mild and tend to resolve as your body adjusts, with good hydration, hygiene, and standard treatment. Tell your doctor if side effects persist or feel disruptive.
Who shouldn't take Jardiance®?
Jardiance® is not recommended for people with type 1 diabetes (due to an increased risk of diabetic ketoacidosis), severe kidney impairment (eGFR below 30 mL/min/1.73 m²), or during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy. Extra caution is warranted for people on insulin or sulfonylureas, on diuretics or blood-pressure medications, with a history of recurrent genital or urinary infections, or with prior lower-limb amputations or foot ulcers. Your doctor will review your full medication list and health history before prescribing.
