Zepbound® (tirzepatide) is a once-weekly GIP/GLP-1 receptor agonist injection that is FDA-approved for chronic weight management in adults with a high BMI and at least one weight-related condition such as hypertension, dyslipidemia, type 2 diabetes, obstructive sleep apnea, or cardiovascular disease. It is sometimes prescribed off-label by doctors within a longevity framework.

Zepbound® is a once-weekly subcutaneous auto injection delivered into the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm at any time of day, with or without meals. Rotate injection sites each week and follow the dosing instructions from your doctor.

The most frequently reported side effects are nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, constipation, and abdominal pain, particularly when increasing dosage. Indigestion, injection-site reactions, fatigue, burping, hair loss, and acid reflux have also been reported. These are typically mild to moderate and tend to resolve as your body adjusts. Tell your doctor if side effects persist or feel disruptive.

Zepbound® is contraindicated in people with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or MEN 2 due to the boxed warning for thyroid C-cell tumor risk. It is also not recommended during pregnancy, in people with a history of pancreatitis, severe gastrointestinal disease, or active diabetic retinopathy. Extra caution is warranted for people on insulin or sulfonylureas, with active gallbladder disease, or with a history of depression or suicidal ideation.
